What does "Boompje Beestje" mean?
"Boompje Beestje" translates to "Little tree, little animal" in Dutch. We chose this name because it reflects our love for nature and the inspiration behind our designs.
We are a nature inspired stationery and gifts shop that is fully committed to being environmentally conscious in every aspect. This includes the materials we use, our production methods, and our celebration of nature through our products.

Who are we?
Our shop is run by two inseparable sisters, Anna and Elizabet. Both stationery obsessed and nature loving since a young age. While we divide our tasks equally, Elizabet Vukovic, who is also a children's book illustrator, is responsible for all of our unique and bold designs. Our designs are characterized by a sophisticated simplicity that captures the essence of nature, making them appealing to nature lovers of all ages, as well as art and design enthusiasts.

Do we support nature conservation organizations?
We deeply value our products and strive to align them with our principles. For this reason, we donate a portion of our profits to a diverse range of nature conservation organizations. To ensure transparency, we specify the supported organizations with the specific product.

What kind of materials do you use?
We prioritize environmentally friendly and sustainable materials and production methods.

Papers
Our selection of papers emphasizes quality and eco-friendliness, with most being fully or partially recycled and made with sustainable energy. We use papers from the following manufacturers Fedrigioni, Favini, Lessebo, Gmund & Arjowiggins, all based in Europe (Italy, Sweden, Germany, UK, Spain). Their papers are highly certified for their sustainable manufacturing process. Learn more about our papers here.

Printing
All depictions on cards, prints and other items are screenprinted by hand, unless stated otherwise. We use archival water-based inks, Permaprint premium inks they are both eco-friendly and vegan, with ingredients that are not sourced and not tested on animals. Additionally, all plant-sourced ingredients are certified GMO-free.

Binding
Our notebooks are handmade by us in our studio in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. The softcover notebooks are hand-sewn and threaded together, while the hardcover ones are crafted by hand using an intricate bookbinding technique. These hardcover notebooks are both hand-sewn and glued with Evacon-R, ensuring utmost durability and longevity. Evacon-R glue is a specially formulated neutral pH, non-plasticised, reversible archival paper-laminating adhesive. We use high-quality bookbinding threads, a white 18/3 thread and our signature colored dark-brown 18/3 thread.


What kind of packaging do you use?
We make use of different types of packaging for individual orders, depending on the destination and weight of the packages. Our goal is to use eco-friendly packaging materials whenever possible. When we do use packaging that may be less eco-friendly, we try to repurpose materials we've received ourselves such as boxes, bubble wrap, rather than letting them go to waste after just one use. Additionally, for some delicate packages that contain fragile items like mugs or glassware, we may be required by the shipping company to use stronger tape to ensure safe handling during transit. While this may not always align with our eco-friendly values, we strive to find a balance between sustainability and durability in order to ensure the safe delivery of your items.

Where are the products made?
Our papergoods, including cards, notebooks, prints, and bookmarks, are all handmade in our studio in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. This allows us to have full control over the quality and keep the supply low, to minimize wastefulness. When we do collaborate with other businesses to produce products, we ensure that their values align with our own. Like our enamel products (tumblers) are made by a family-owned business in Poland. We offer a range of writing instruments, including renowned brands like Kaweco pens made in Germany.

What does "handmade" mean at your shop?
That each item in our shop is uniquely crafted by hand with love and care. While we aim for consistency, slight variations in color and small imperfections may occur, adding to the charm of each handmade product. Origin and handmade information are included with each product.

All items are shipped by us from The Netherlands.
 
How long does shipping take?
Our shipping is based on the value of the items in your order and on the service level you choose. When calculating your total shipping time, please keep in mind that the day the package is shipped is not considered the first business day; start counting business days from first full day that the package is “in transit” to you. Note: business days are Monday through Friday, excluding weekends and Federal holidays.
 
Processing Time
Processing time includes manual production, packaging and administration. Since we make everything on demand, we only keep a small amount of stock on hand. This helps us cut down on waste and be more sustainable overall. Plus, it means that each item is made just for you! The time we need to prepare an order for dispatch normally takes 4-8 business days. Keep in mind that because everything is made by hand, there might be a bit of variation in these times.
 
Shipping Time
We offer a few options for shipping like untracked, tracked and insured tracked, below you can find the time estimates.

Standard Letter Mail (no tracking):
- The Netherlands: 1 week
- Europe: 1-2 weeks
- International: 3-5 weeks

Tracked Package:
- The Netherlands: 1 week
- Europe: 1-2 weeks
- International: 2-5 weeks
 
Please note that sudden delays due to unforeseen circumstances are not included in these estimated delivery times.

Are customs fees and taxes included in the product price?
Taxes are only included in the products for countries within the EU. For countries outside the EU or worldwide, taxes are not calculated in the products. If your country imposes taxes at customs, you will be responsible for paying them. Import fees, custom fees, and taxes are the responsibility of the customer. Please consult your country's customs website to determine if you are required to pay any fees.

What is the shop's policy on refunds and returns?
Please note that all sales are considered final as most are artisan items, handmade specifically for you. Therefore, we do not accept returns or exchanges. However, if you encounter any issues or have any questions regarding your order, please contact us within 24 hours. We will promptly look into the matter and provide assistance.

Can I make a change to my order?
If you need to make any changes to your order, please email us immediately at boompjebeestje@protonmail.com. If your order has already been fulfilled and sent we cannot make changes.

What payment methods are accepted by the shop?
We want our products to be accessible to as many people as possible. Therefore, we accept various payment methods (see bottom page). However, if the available payment methods are not compatible with your country or capacity, we are willing to work with you to find alternative payment options. If you wish to use an alternative payment method, please email us at boompjebeestje@protonmail.com. We will require proof of payment from your bank and may need up to 3-5 business days to confirm the transaction. Currently, we are unable to process credit card payments due to concerns regarding potential misuse, fraud, and the ease of identity theft.
